An excellent charter. Steve makes for a great experience- very thoughtful with the itinerary and works with you to cater to the experience you’re looking for. The quarters are clean and comfortable, and crew go above and beyond to enhance the experience. The food is also excellent- some of the best Thai food you’ll have. Would do it again in a heartbeat and recommend it to anyone else!
This review concerns the sailing catamaran SWIFT with Captain Colin and his wife Oiy. The booking: We booked the trip back in March 2024; the trip didn't take place until April 2025, a year later. All communication was handled by Steve Fitzpatrick via Sailing-Phuket. Steve was very friendly, extremely quick, and informative with his answers. There was nothing he didn't have an answer for. Everything went smoothly, transparently, and with total professionalism. We felt extremely well taken care of! The boat: The catamaran "Swift," a former racing catamaran of a slightly older model, has been very well refurbished and is in good condition. The cabins have plenty of storage space and fans, and there are two bathrooms (with toilet, sink, and shower). The net at the front is comfortable thanks to the shade and beanbags. Kayaks and SUPs can be rented as optional extras. Snorkeling equipment is available in sufficient quantity on board. At the rear of the cockpit, there's a table where meals are eaten – it's a bit small, but adequate. If everyone at the table is considerate, it works well (we were a party of six). The boat sails very well; even a light breeze is enough to get SWIFT moving. You can tell it was originally a racing catamaran. The route: Simply a dream! We sailed south in Thailand to the border of Langkawi, away from the tourist crowds in the north. Ko Ngai/Ko Muk, Emerald Cove (unforgettable!!!), Rok Nok, Butang Islands... Our tour lasted 13 days, starting and ending in Phuket. We were almost always the only ones there, with just a few longtail boats and fishing boats now and then, and only two other sailboats along the entire route. Colin always took us to the most beautiful places, such as... At Emerald Cove, he made sure to go later, after other visitors had left. At the other beaches and snorkeling spots, we were almost always alone – except for one time. Food & Drinks: We were asked about our preferences beforehand, and everything on board was arranged accordingly. We were thoughtfully provided with drinks throughout the day. Since we had opted exclusively for Thai cuisine, care was always taken to ensure the spiciness was suitable for everyone. Oiy was very attentive and considerate in this regard. Breakfast was extremely ample and varied: jam, honey, Nutella, butter, toasted bread, crepes, sausages, fried bacon, ham, fruit, fruit juices, coffee, tea, yogurt, muesli, various egg dishes, and more. Lunch and dinner were Thai, as requested. The food was incredibly delicious, more than enough, varied, always made with fresh ingredients, and creative. Thank you so much, Oiy, for your wonderfully delicious meals! Colin managed to spearfish twice, and the fish were then grilled for us. Colin & Oiy: ***** 5-Star Plus *****. It's practically impossible to rate these two lovely people. They are both passionate sailors, and it shows immediately. They are very thoughtful and proactive in every way, whether it's the ship or the passengers. If you want to help out, they're always happy to oblige. Colin is very funny and communicative; you learn a lot, and he's always ready to help and advise. Oiy is simply the heart and soul of the ship and is always up for a laugh. We thoroughly enjoyed being their guests. Thank you so much, Colin & Oiy!!
Steve was fantastic before we left; he answered questions quickly, and everything was well-organized. Once on the boat, it was also perfect. We had everything we needed, and the places were wonderful. Being independent meant we could visit without the crowds, and sometimes even find ourselves alone on the beaches. Colin and Oye were great—cooking, walks, everything... We're almost always nostalgic about this incredible week.
Wow, just wow! We spent 6 days and 5 nights aboard the 43-foot catamaran SY Zero and it was amazing. Captain John met us at the Phuket Yacht Club and allowed us to enjoy a few adult beverages before heading off. During our brief time at PYC, we expressed to John that like most people we wanted to see all the beautiful spots, but also avoid the crowds - and that is exactly what happened. We got to see the most amazing places, little hidden gems, and swim, snorkel and stand-up paddle board in the warm waters of the Andaman Sea. SY Zero is a beautiful catamaran and is incredibly well kept and maintained, while we were out on the water we would see other boats at anchorage, and no other yacht was as well maintained and cared for - it wasn't even close. The interior of the catamaran was also neat as a pin and very comfortable. I'm 6'4" (190cm) and I had plenty of headroom which made getting around the interior of the yacht much more enjoyable. The berths are spacious with plenty of air flow for very comfortable sleeping at night. The Zero doesn't need much wind to sail (unlike other catamaran build types) so we got to experience the beauty of Thailand while experiencing the peace and quiet that accompanies the lapping of the ocean against the hull - which is made even better with the sun shining down, a cool breeze, a good book and a refreshing drink close at hand while sitting in the shade provided by the sails. And the food.... Our onboard chef, Jaa (also Captain John's wife) makes the most wonderful Thai cuisine. I've been to Thailand many times, and Jaa's food is off the chart amazing! Every meal was top notch, full of flavors, exactly to our needs, and the variety of dishes was incredible! We'd be happy never to leave the safety of the harbor just to sit on that boat and eat Jaa's cooking. Captain John and Jaa have such a great vibe and work so well together as a team - they really care about you, your experience, and each other. They have this great balance of giving you options of where to go what to see, or communicating about what is possible based on current conditions (sailing or motoring), all while allowing you to feel that you have the boat all to yourself. The evenings we spent over dinner on the boat with John and Jaa were the best, we learned so much about Thailand, the culture, and even picked up some useful Thai phrases. Spend a few minutes with John and Jaa and you will instantly like them, spend a few hours with them and you'll have made new friends. It's a little bittersweet to write this review, because I kind of want to keep SY Zero a secret and keep this experience all to ourselves, but it was such a fantastic time that it would be unkind not to share how special our experience was on SY Zero. If you're thinking about booking this yacht, do it. You'll be happy you did.
Got into contact with Steve via email and the communication was just great. Steve did all he could to propose my partner and I an options with different boats and dates. It didn’t work out for us this time, but looking forward to my next trip in Thailand and book this experience with Sailing Phuket !
What an absolutely amazing trip. We had 5 days/nights aboard the catamaran with the 3 staff: owner/captain Steve, the chef, and the deckhand/Co-captain. The staff were always helpful, attentive to our needs, friendly and very nice! We spent the 5 days sailing around Phang Nga Bay going to different beaches, caves, snorkeling spots, kayaking and just chilling on the boat. Steve had extensive knowledge of the area and best places to see and stay at night. I would highly recommend his company and boat for your trip.
We had a brilliant time on board SY Mahayana this month exploring some of the most idyllic locations that Thailand has to offer. Steve left no stone unturned to ensure we had an amazing experience that will be talked about for years. There are too many highlights to list of our 7 days on board, but have to mention the meals prepared by Thai chef, Kop, exceeded our expectations. The skipper, Ya, is a consumate professional and we felt at ease with him at the helm. Thanks a million Steve for an unforgettable experience that surpassed all of our expectations.
this company rocked. I cant say enough good things. The chef was so cool and made better thai food than we had had elsewhere. the captain Alex was so patient and great and taught us to wind surf! I couldnt believe how we got to see phuket in all the NON touristy spots. It was perfection
We enjoyed a 4 day sail with Dieter & Ay onboard SY Nakamal in January 2024. The trip was well organised and communication with Steve when organising the sail and prior to our departure was excellent. We enjoyed some beautiful diving and Ay's cooking was amazing! Thank you for a lovely sailing holiday!
We are a family of five with three kids and spent an amazing week sailing with Steve and the crew. Everyone went above and beyond to make our adventures exciting! Steve was always flexible with options, which was great. Thank you for the awesome week!
