My visit to Arat Massage was a truly special experience – quite different from classic Thai or oil massages. This is more of a medically oriented treatment. At the beginning, they discuss in detail where you have pain or discomfort. Then, they treat these areas specifically, while also including other parts of the body, since everything in the body is interconnected. The explanations were presented to me very thoughtfully using books and illustrations – it was really interesting. The massages are performed by two older, very experienced therapists. I was particularly impressed by the strength of the female therapist, despite her age. I went two days in a row and felt very well cared for each time. Both by the woman and the man! I deliberately chose a longer massage (about 1.5 hours) and would recommend it, as this allows enough time to specifically address problem areas. For me, these included tennis elbow and sensitive elbow joints. Nevertheless, not only the painful areas were treated, but also adjacent areas such as the shoulders, upper arms, feet, and even the abdomen – which I found very interesting. The treatment was performed with great expertise and professionalism. You can tell that a great deal of knowledge and experience went into it! Note: You may experience some muscle soreness the next day or still feel the pressure points the following day. The atmosphere is also pleasant: very clean, freshly scented towels and blankets, a quiet room with fans instead of a strong air conditioner – which I personally found very comfortable. There is no loud music; instead, you hear nature, birds, and the sounds of the surrounding area, as the massage takes place a little further out in the quieter part of the island. Overall, a very intensive, effective, and relaxing massage experience that I can definitely recommend – especially for people with specific ailments.
